About Me
Welcome to my web site.
I suppose most people visit to find out about me as a Wiltshire Councillor, but I thought it would be a good idea to tell you about my family. I am married and have 2 grown up children and one granddaughter, Elizabeth who is 2 years old. I was elected as a Conservative Councillor to represent Salisbury St Martin and Cathedral Ward in June 2009. I have lived in south Wiltshire since 1986 and was formerly a Bank manager working for Barclays. When I retired early I ran my own Insurance business just off Tollgate Road for 10 years before selling it in 2006. I was a former Councillor on the old Salisbury District Council. I know my Ward well having had my business there for so many years.
Not only do I represent Salisbury, but I am also the Cabinet member with responsibility for Finance, Performance and Risk. i was previously in charge of Economic Development, Planning and Housing and changed my role in May 2011.
Stonehenge and Avebury are on our doorstep and I am committed to preserving our heritage for the whole of Wiltshire, but especially for Salisbury.
I will from time time ask people to give their opinions on topical issues such as car parking charging, Park & Ride and the future of Salisbury. How do people see their City developing in the future. I will be talking about the ‘Salisbury Vision’ and planning issues and I do hope you will find it interesting.
I am in favour of a referendum on our continuing membership of the EEC. I believe we should stay in europe as a trading partner, but we should not be ruled by it.
